Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are actually open and may close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must satisfy the subsequent criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a home by using a combined gross domestic earnings that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined household earnings isn't going to exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and wish not submit any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the correct Identity Document numbers, names, nsfas application and surname, as reflected inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are researching or intend to research at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
